Learn Japanese

To start of I'll teach you how to say "learn Japanese" in Japanese. 日本語を勉強する。(nihongo o benkyo suru.) Which literally means to study Japanese or so I've heard from Anime. Secondly, lets begin with the alphabet. For all you anime fans I've spiced it up with Louise from The Familiar of Zero (ゼロの使い魔, Zero no Tsukaima). The Japanese have three alphabets; Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. ひらがなカタカナ漢字If you disinclude Romaji which uses the Latin alphabet to write Japanese. Hiragana and katakana are both Kana systems, in which each character represents one sound. Hiragana is used to write native words for which there are no Kanji. Kanji are the Chinese characters that are used in the Japanese writing system. 漢字 literally means "Han characters" or "Chinese characters" and is the same written term used in the Chinese language to refer to the character writing system. Lastly, Katakana are most often used for transcription of words from foreign languages as well as country names, foreign places, and personal name. For example my name, Anna, would be アンナ. Since there are two many kanji to list right now I'll leave you with the Katakan and Hiragana for now.
